Nobody really knows what the “D” stands for, but we like to think it’s “Dude.” Joseph also grew up during the 70’s & 80’s living the “SoCal” lifestyle. An avid surfer and beach volleyball player, he’s been playing in the sand since he can remember. Starting in the construction trade, he found himself yearning for a far more creative outlet and founded the Toltec Architectural Glass Company in 1990. His passion for creative construction and surfing, coupled with spiritual quests through Mexico, Europe and Asia, were catalysts to the founding of the jewelry and accessory brand Nagual.
His work can be found in some of the finest stores in the country: Saks Fifth Ave., Scoop, M.Fredric, Traffic and Blue Bee, for starters. And on some of today’s most high-profile entertainers including Gary Dourdan, LL Cool J, Marilyn Manson, Jon Bon Jovi, Colin Farrel, INXS, Tommy Lee, Randy Jackson and Raskel Flats. In addition to his renown as a designer, Joseph is a gifted teacher. In September 2002, he began teaching workshops at the Hiko Mizuno School of Jewelry in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.
