A born and bred 70’s child, Misty grew up in the last days of disco. Do the hustle! By dressing up in her great grandmother’s Vaudeville clothing and becoming her mother’s stylist at the tender age of 5, her future in fashion was inevitable.
Her early education remains a mystery. We do know that Misty graduated from the world famous Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (F.I.D.M.) in Los Angeles, and her fast-track into the “shmata” industry was set. Oy Vey!
Starting as a Sales Rep for a textile design studio out of NYC, she quickly learned the behind-the-scenes secrets of the industry. She then graduated to Associate Designer at Joie working with denim, knits and cashmere. Her next stop was True Religion Brand Jeans where she worked as an Associate Designer of denim and knits. Her newest home is at Babakul acting as Creative Manager on high-end jewelry and accessories.
Creative and business-minded (a rare quality), thorough to the point of freakishness, and the most-well rounded talent of the bunch, Misty has been the secret weapon behind every company she’s worked with. True Religion Brand Jeans and Joie were tiny companies when she started and massively successful when she left. Coincidence? We think not.
Her love of fashion, hip-hop, travel, charity and, yes, mullets makes Misty an invaluable member of our newest venture, Choose Your Cause. And since she grew up in the steamy San Fernando Valley, we know she can take the heat.
